This free weekly program, in partnership with the Assistance League of Riverside and sponsored by Altura Credit Union, helps students in grades 2nd–6th who are reading at a low 2nd–3rd grade level. Together, they will build skills and confidence. Led by trained volunteers, sessions are supportive, pressure-free, and commitment-free.

Our Annual National Night Out (NNO) will be held on Tuesday, OCTOBER 6, 2026, not in August like many others around the United States. Ours coincides with the other Riverside NNO Events.
This wonderful FREE Community Event is brought to you by My Learning Studio OUTREACH, a 501c3 that is dedicated to helping low-income, foster, adopted, at-risk, and court-appointed children, such as grandparents raising grandchildren and siblings raising siblings.

My Learning Studio OUTREACH (MLSO) was created by Lorna Jenkins when Riverside and surrounding areas were severely affected by the 2008 recession. My Learning Studio OUTREACH (MLSO) was created by Lorna Jenkins when Riverside and surrounding areas were severely affected by the 2008 recession. Lorna's for-profit learning center, My Learning Studio was already established in the community and many people advocated for discounted tutoring due to job losses. Lorna could not turn away from the community in need, thus My Learning Studio OUTREACH was created.
MLSO provides private individualized tutoring to under-resourced students from Riverside and surrounding areas in all levels of mathematics, sciences, reading comprehension and writing.
MLSO's educational instructors are passionate, well-qualified, and come from a variety of backgrounds. All of our instructors go through an application process, training, and are strategically paired with each student.

We have instructors that attend leading local universities and colleges, most of whom are aspiring teachers. We also have instructors that are retired from the educational sector, ranging from secondary education to collegiate level.
Several MLSO staff members have personal experience with learning disabilities, allowing them to help students with a greater sense of empathy and understanding.

We begin with the basics to ensure that each student has a strong foundational understanding of the subject matter before moving on to more advanced concepts. This approach allows students to develop the confidence they need to succeed in their class assignments and tests.
For more than 17 years, since 2006, My Learning Studio has provided 1-on-1 private tutoring in Riverside for students in all academic subjects. This includes programs for adult learners, ESL students, students with special needs, and Home-Schoolers. We also offer test-taking, study skills, history, science, arts, crafts and enrichment, SAT, PSAT, ACT, ASVAB, and more. Our private tutoring rates can not be beaten.
